Donald Trump is accused of disparaging an Afghanistan veteran who is disabled.

Recent allegations contend that Donald Trump, a former president, ridiculed a wounded US Army veteran while in office. The Atlantic reports that during a 2019 ceremony at Joint Base Myer-Henderson Hall for Gen. Mark Milley, Trump allegedly made disparaging remarks after Army Captain Luis Avila, a soldier who had sustained significant wounds in Afghanistan, sang “God Bless America.” Witnesses assert that as Trump approached Avila to congratulate her after the performance, he shouted to Milley, “No one wants to see that, the wounded,” according to the witnesses.

Milley personally selected Avila for the ceremony; she had participated in five combat operations and had lost a leg to an IED in Afghanistan. He suffered two heart attacks, two strokes, and brain impairment as a result of his injuries. Avila’s wheelchair nearly overturned during the ceremony due to the uneven ground, prompting assistance from Hollyanne Milley and the vice president at the time, Mike Pence. After the occasion, Trump is seen in the video thanking Avila and telling Milley not to let the injured soldier make another public appearance.

Gen. Milley was stunned by this information because he had lost 242 soldiers under his command in Middle Eastern missions. According to The Atlantic, many who had strong admiration for the military found Trump’s attitude toward them to be shallow, cruel, and extremely unpleasant. Avila was most recently asked to perform at Milley’s retirement celebration. It’s important to remember that Trump has previously been accused of insulting US military people. Trump reportedly called the slain soldiers at the Aisne-Marne American Cemetery in France “losers” and “suckers” in 2018, according to The Atlantic, after choosing not to attend a memorial service.
